Narnia - CS Lewis wrote a set of books that we read as kids, then a few years later, did some thinking and went 'dear lord, does he have any ideas of half of the implications in there?'. Filmmakers did the same thing too.
Queer as Folk - an everyday tale of folk on Canal Street in Manchester.
Robin of Sherwood - best portrayal of the Robin Hood legend ever. And it's got Ray Winstone in, so I'm not complaining...*g*
